Walnut Street Theatre is excited to host to continuation of this region’s annual auditions program.  As you know, participating theatres and professionals across the Delaware Valley join together each year at an audition da for local actors.  This program continues to give actors the opportunity to be seen by multiple theatre professionals at once.  They have been instrumental in helping the region meet and cast talent for upcoming productions.

 

Today – the announcement to the public with event information was released!  Details can be found online.

 

What can you expect in 2014?

·         3 Days of Auditions – 3/31, 4/7, and 4/14

·         AEA, Nonunion, and College Senior Day.

·         A minimal ($35) fee for theatres/personnel to participate, aiding the cost of this year’s hospitality, materials, and accompanists

·         No fees for actors

·         Sustainable paperless option for headshots

·         Union theatres can still have the AEA day count toward a required EPA, pending individual approval from AEA. 

 

Join us all three Mondays as we continue to discover and foster local actors within our community.  Academic universities will be contacted separately.  Attached to this email you will find the registration for your organization to participate in the annual auditions this spring season.

I'm shooting a campaign for a California based client on 2/1 and 2/2 in NYC.  The client will be present both days.  Day one will be indoors and day two outdoors.  A single female model will be used for the shoot.  This will be a snazzy piece for your port, for sure.

My Heart in a Suitcase – A Holocaust Story
ArtsPower National Touring Theatre, in its twenty eighth year as a touring theatre company for young and family audiences, is casting for its 2014 spring touring season the non-musical play “My Heart in a Suitcase – A Holocaust Story” directed by Greg Gunning. Rehearsals begin February 25; play tours until June 14. The play is based on the autobiography of Anne Lehmann Fox – a Holocaust survivor who as a young girl in Nazi Germany got out of Berlin on the Kindertransport in 1938.

Pays $400/week for actor/ASM; plus $55/day provided when touring.
(Note: All actors will be signed on as an assistant stage manager. As an ASM, all actors will have some light set-up and strike duties.

Males & Females, 18 – 35, All Ethnicities.

Anne: A girl in her twenties but can also look younger (mid-teens), talks to the audience reflecting back on her life as a young girl in Berlin in 1938, German (no accent wanted), intelligent, sensitive, loving, grows up fast, loses all her family in the Holocaust, escapes Germany on the Kindertransport, a survivor of the Holocaust.
Dorit: a girl in her twenties but can also look younger (mid-teens), Anne’s best friend and schoolmate, Protestant, German (no accent wanted), lively, excitable, talkative, likeable, joins but then quits the Hitler Youth Movement.
Mr. Lehmann: A man in his late twenties or thirties, Anne’s young father, German (no accent wanted), has pride, intelligent, proper but with anguish under the surface, slowly stripped of all his rights as a citizen, becomes embittered that his Germany is rejecting him, later killed in the Holocaust. Mrs. Lehmann: A woman in her late twenties or thirties, Anne’s young mother, German (no accent wanted), maternal, warm, loving, proper, an optimist who is naively convinced that the Nazi threat will soon pass, struggles to hold onto a normal family life in Nazi Germany, later killed in the Holocaust.
